a great man!

Today has been a day of mourning for the one prophet i ever really knew well. For as long as i remember it has been him. I have always loved hearing his talks even when i was too young to really listen to much else. Im crying for him today but really its crying for me because he is in a better place and is with his wonderful wife again whom he has missed terribly. SO really it should be a day of rejoicing for a great man who has done his duty and done it well and has returned to his maker to hear - well done thou good and faithful servant. We will miss him though because of all he has done for the us and for the world.

a stolen song

Okay so in order to get this you have to read it while listening to the song "who I am" by Jessica Andrews. It is a lovely song all by itself but my mom told me to edit the song so it was about me and this is really for her entertainment!

Who I am

If I live to be a hundred
And never be the greatest mother
That’ll be alright
If I don’t make it to five kids
If I never win anything
Im gonna be just fine
Cause I know exactly who I am

I am wilford’s great granddaughter
Spitting image of my mother
And when the day is done
My mommas still my biggest fan
Sometimes im clueless and Im clumsy
But Ive got friends that love me
And they know just where I stand
Its all a part of me
And thats who I am

So when I make a nasty cake
When I fall right down my stairs
I know Ill be alright
Should my sourdough guys be broken
I will cry those teardrops knowin
I will be just fine
cause nothin changes who I am

I am wilford’s great granddaughter
Spitting image of my mother
And when the day is done
My mommas still my biggest fan
Sometimes im clueless and Im clumsy
But Ive got friends that love me
And they know just where I stand
Its all a part of me
And thats who I am

I cant draw but I make dinner
Im a pit loser, but in bowling Im a winner
Im a reader and I blog
I hate cats and wont ever have a dog

I am wilford’s great granddaughter
Spitting image of my mother
And when the day is done
My mommas still my biggest fan
Sometimes im clueless and Im clumsy
But Ive got friends that love me
And they know just where I stand
Its all a part of me
And thats who I am

I am wilford’s great granddaughter
Spitting image of my mother
And when the day is done
My mommas still my biggest fan
Sometimes im clueless and Im clumsy
But Ive got friends that love me
And they know just where I stand
Its all a part of me
And thats who I am

So i am 5 days short of being 7 months pregnant according to most of the world - 8 if we go with Stephanie's system. SO 31 weeks of hauling my own little personal parasite as my dad likes to say. The debate rages on within me - to c-section or not to c-section! What i want doesnt really seem to enter into the equation. I have gained about 17 pounds thus far instead of the 35 i had gained at this point with Melia so apparently i am doing something better. I gained 10 of those in the last month so the doctor asked me if i had eaten allot of turkey - considering when we were cooking the turkey at my moms and a fuse went out which we didnt notice which resulted in the oven not being hot enough to do the work properly - we were a little unsure about the turkey being safe and actually didnt eat any - it must have been something else.

My Christmas craft of the year was actually my idea: ohh pretty ribbon and fun cans - it cant be that hard! Unfortunately my skills were not even up to that so i called in the creative queen of my aquaintaince (Joanne) and she showed me that cute simple bows were not beyond my ability and voila pretty ribbon and cans can make a fun, child friendly, decoration! I know the picture is terrible but my photography skills are also a work in progress.

My other vast accomplishment is my first sewing project since grade seven home ec - a cute little bag! The pattern came with my machine and a video so with many simple directions and a variety of mean names being hurled at my sewing machine the bag is complete. Joanne will be happy to know that i have found the instruction booklet for my sewing machine and the zipper foot is not quite as incompetent as it seems. The truly nasty part of the entire process was the one cute little button - which is supposed to be super easy with my machine. Irregardless of how many times i watched the little segment in the video NOT ONCE did they mention the extremely essention button hole lever. I wasted a great deal of thread.

And that is a summary of my recent amazing accomplishments!

Christmas fun

For those curious - we did hear from my little sister and she is neither engaged or married but just thought that her post would be entertaining. I thought it was funny - my mom probably not as much. Secretly im dissapointed she isnt engaged but i am hoping she will stay closer than california so maybe its all for the best.
So Christmas was lovely and we spent a lot of time with my family which of course i love. Melia adores "s ne ne" and "cark" and grandma and grandpa spoiling her of course so she was thrilled with the long stay. She doent even bother asking me to carry her around them - she just goes over and demands up from "mama" or "papa". They willingly obey. The twins love Vance too. Probably because of things like this, which was the funnest thing ever. It was a good solid workout for Vance and the kids thought it was hilarious. Sadly when Vance passed out on the floor no one else wanted to take his place. Would you?
Christmas was rather new for Melia this year and didnt know at this point that the stockings contained candy - hence the lack of interest.
Once the present opening started and the twins got toys out of theirs we managed to convince her to open one of her own. My little sister Savana got her a monster stuffed dog which she is a very big fan of and is seen here yelling puppy repeatedly and hugging her new friend.
The other highlight of her Christmas was playing with the twins toys they had recieved - much to their annoyance of course. She lives to pester them!
On our way to Strathmore for the Woodruff new years bash we stopped at Housemans for an hour so Vance could skate and Melia could play in the snow for a bit. If you can't see clearly in the picture there are about five llama's who were very friendly. They came up to us to lick us so Melia kept her eyes on them for a long time afterwards. While Vance was helping shovel snow off the ice he tried to pull Melia on the ice in the sled but he was a little to wild and she wouldnt hold on so she decided to pull her mitts around in the sled instead. She greatly enjoyed that untill her hands got too cold.
So the woodruff party was fun cause we all stayed in a hotel with a pool and a waterslide (which was insane by the way). The pool was cold though so Melia hung out in the hot tub and since i cant go in the hot tub she hung out with grandma in the hot tub allot. The next day we had a present exchange and Melia helpfully remembered what to do with presents - open them! When we finally convinced her not to open them she decided to stand on one (i knew what was in it) and proclaim herself queen. She graciously allowed her little second cousin or whatever she is stand on her throne for a moment. She seems so grown up now though. Its so weird to think im starting this whole process again. Im still in denial and probably will be until the little punk beating on me from the inside comes out!
Thats my story for today!

so my little punk sister...

The day after Christmas my little sister Savana left for a utah/california trip with a girlfriend of hers. She called my parents when she got to Utah so we were not worried about her or anything of the sort. Then on sunday evening she posts on her facebook account that she is engaged to a guy named Matt and she is getting married in Vegas tommorow...sorry mom. Now she is not generally this umm extreme and insane so i am not OVERLY concerned but she has been telling me for the last months that she is going to marry this guy Matt whom her friend knew on her mission so its not a random guy she picked up but this is the first time they have met in person and for a girl who is rather picky about guys it would be a big step for her. I would actually not be that surprised or concerned if she was engaged but she hasnt called me or anything so thus far i am going with a joke on everyone - which I think is rather funny but my mom is a little more concerned. Her timing for this announcement is impecable of course since the woodruff reunion with all my aunts and uncles and such was the next day (many of my cousins are on facebook). She was the talk of the reunion and all we could say was - well we think she is kidding. My poor mom. My mom called me as soon as she saw it to ask me if i thought it was true and when i wasnt 100 percent sure she called my other sister as well. So we shall see what my little punk sister has been up to soon i think because she has to go back to work eventually and we will definately be calling her once she is back in the country! Thats my story for the day.
