Remember when

Remember when you were young and beautiful
How much beauty did you see?
Remember when you knew everything
How much did you understand?
Remember when you stood out among the crowd
How much did you stand like the Savior?
Remember when you were perfect
How much compassion did you show?

Remember when you decided you were no longer beautiful
What now do you see?
Remember when you realized you had a long way to go
What are you learning now?
Remember when you started blending in
What marks do you now bear?
Remember when you crashed and burned
What arms came close around you?

I see the beauty in my daughter’s smile and son’s laughter
I am learning patience, tolerance and kindness
I try to look and sound the way I know I should
My father in heaven held me close and loved me anyway

ON A LIGHTER NOTE: Due to serious pressure from Stephanie and some curiosity of my own we will play the remember game!

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

EVERYBODY PLAY! I want to see what memories are out there!

boating and calaway!

So the other weekend we had a great boating adventure and Kyan had his first experience out of the womb on a boat and loved every minute! He had his little happy place out of the wind and the sun and demonstrated that although he looks like his mom he is definately a boating junkie like his daddy!

Despite the lovely smile she is sporting in this pic Melia absolutely loves the boat and is now actually quite willing to put on what began as the evil life jacket! We have yet to get her on the tube but I understand how she can be a little leery after watching her cousins fall in the water due to a reduction in speen from 3 km/h to about 2 km/h. The best part is that my sister and her husband were both on the tube with them of course and when the twins fell daddy went too but mom managed to stay on the tube and watch the spectacle of Kent holding the screaming twins as far out of the water as physically possible. I still haven't got up this year on the wakeboard but I am getting closer and the second time I managed to do it without bruising the crap out of my legs!

This saturday was the twins birthday so we decided to all go to Calaway Park since we have been wanting to go all summer and it was a great success! We arrived around 11am to a packed park and figured that the log ride was probably the shortest line it would ever be so we went there first. Melia was just barely allowed to go on and enjoyed it despite the surprise of getting wet =). Its was rather sad because all she really needs is another inch to go on everything she wanted to. Every time they tried to measure her she would cry and try to hide. The ploy worked a couple times and they let her on anyway but once or twice they just said no! The real highlight of the day of course was the power going out all over the park around 1pm. The rides all quit of course and most of the food places suddenly couldn't make food or use their till's. Fortunately for us we brought out our cooler and had our sandwhiches and pita's while the park emptied out. After a long lunch we wandered around for a bit and checked out the non-powered attractions (both of which Melia slept through in the stroller - about a two hour nap). Then the power came back on and we vastly enjoyed the very short lines and much reduced masses. We assumed the kids would only last for a couple hours but we managed to close down the park at 7pm! The extra energy may have come from the cotton candy of course but that didnt happen until the end. Melia obviously enjoyed it greatly! She would have eaten the whole bag if i had let her!

The end of the rather long but very fun day!!!

two jars of jam

While I was nursing Kyan Melia discovered two open jars of jam daddy left on the table. After the mess was made she went outside to show daddy and he washed her off with the hose and then tossed her in the shower - she screamed the entire time.
After the fun clean up Vance decided to take Melia with him to Claresholm with him so she could play with grandma while he and his dad filled in the trench and went for a ride on the quads. This was my poem I wrote on an envelope at humpty’s when I took myself out for lunch. This was before Kyan woke up to scream bloody murder of course.

Remember when
You had just one baby
Remember how busy you thought you were?
The big deal it was to leave the house
For me
It wasn’t really
that long ago
Boy was it a holiday to have her gone
All day
With daddy.

6 hours later

I had no idea
How much EASIER life is
With a whinny, hyper, active
Mischievous, lippy, loving
2 year old!
I didn’t realize
How much she does
To entertain her little brother
And how much LESS he cries
When she is around
Despite the ruining his naps,
Stealing his soother,
Putting quarters in his mouth,
And hugging him a little too much,
He loves her
And misses her greatly
And so do I

quirks eh?

quirks eh? Where do I start and how much to admit about how odd I am =)

1. I am addicted to making deserts - a habit I am trying to kick mind you - but a very hard one to break!

2. I could have breakfast three meals a day and sometimes I do.

3. I love doing math homework and wish I could take another math class just for fun - I miss it.

4. I still can't go to bed before 8 since I was never allowed to when I lived at home - apparently I got up too early if I did.

5. I still hold on to the side of the shopping cart even though I dont get lost at the grocery store anymore - early training is hard to break!

6. I cannot under any circumstances talk while I am brushing my teeth so dont even try to start a conversation

7. Watching someone pitch wrong in girls fastball doesnt particularily offend me but the other day we were watching a game at the diamonds and in between someone was trying to learn how to pitch and a girl was telling her how to do it all wrong and I all but had to duct tape myself to the bleachers to avoid climbing the fence and showing the poor girl how to do it properly.

On Canada day we made the trek out to drum to play with the family and we had a great time playing in the water fountain, getting awesome treats from the parade just hanging out. Melia absolutely loves to play with grandma's bracelets and enjoys wearing all of them at the same time.

We also saw a rather strange contraption on the way out to drum which I would simply describe as a UFO despite the fact that it is not flying. It was very strange to pass on the highway though. We passed it and then pulled over to take a picture since we were so surprised!
Today we found a rather large dragon fly on the swing set and to my annoyance every time I tried to get even this close it would blur out until I put my hand in the picture - rather aggravating. still a cool dragon fly though so I thought I would share.
