certainly has a point!

So I got this email from a friend and I must say - they have a very good point!!!

"America, Canada , all Europe ..... needs a President like this
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd – Australia
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques.

Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians'. 'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'. 'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.' 'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.''If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Story time

So friday night while Vance and I are watching an episode of our latest series that my sister has gotten us into (PSYCH) Melia comes down stairs (has already been put to bed and is sneaking down) and says she is super duper excited about going hiking tommorow! (News to me by the way). She is litterally jumping up and down with excitement so I tell her that if the weather is nice (it was NOT nice for hiking on friday so my expectations are low but if its nice why not?) we can certainly go on a hike. She runs back to bed. I turn to Vance - "hiking"? He admits that he just made up a story for her tonight about going on a hike which apparently fueled this excitement - from now on we discuss made up story lines in advance!

Clearly Melia mentioned having nice weather for a hike to someone with authority cause 10am saturday was GORGEOUS!

You know she really wanted to go for a hike because of her outfit. Melia is wearing Jeans. For those of you who don't attempt to guide her matching and such every day you wont appreciate the magnitude of this clothing selection. Princesses wear skirts and dresses (in case you didn't know - I've tried repeatedly to use Jasmine as an argument to no avail) therefore melia must wear a skirt or dress to be a princess. She must be a princess EVERYDAY!! The kid has a ridiculous amount of super cute jeans which are NEVER WORN!! Unless mommy lays down the law - which I did for hiking and she relented after much convincing.

So we went out to the lake since there is a fun little path out there and since the mosquitoes are gone we can once again enjoy Lake Newell.

Its a good thing we got a picture of the beginning hike sign because we certainly didn't make it to the end of the hike but they were very excited!

There were some very convenient piles of leaves to play in and throw at eachother.

Im not sure where Vance got the binoculars from but they are hers and she loves them.

And after probably a ten minute hike we got out of the shelter of the trees and the sun hid so we froze and went back to the van. Short but sweet. Irregardless of the length though Melia was very proud of us for taking her on a hike so today we are amazing parents. I just thought I should write it down for future evidence.

Slacker - no not you - me

So really not much of an excuse for doing nada in regards to my poor little blog. All laziness. Then while whining about no one every updating their blog I realized how long its been and the wonderful moments you have all missed out on in my little house of horrors!
1. telling time
My children are both learning how to tell time. How you may ask? Well one day Vance was pointing to my large clock over my door with a broom to explain to melia that Movie time was not until the small hand pointed to the 7 and the long hand pointed to the 12. Do you already know what comes next? Beautiful picture eh?

Yes at least once a day when melia is asking me if its time for something yet she will break out the broom and explain to me what time things happen at. Im sure we have also covered how Kyan hates to be left out right? Yes so now I have two broom weilding (very dangerous) children lecturing me and pointing and sword fighting many times a day and I really can't help laughing every time. Strange how long some things can be funny but not others.
2. Halloween treats

For young womens we had a little party so naturally I went to the internet to abduct fun ideas from other people and here were our results. (Melia and I had a lot of fun - she watched the movie on how to decorate the pumpkin with me many times and lectured daddy about the art of cake decorating when he got home). She also decorated some of her own cups so her, Kyan and daddy could have a party while I was "out doing my church stuff". She had a great deal more chocolate on her cups than I did on mine. Does that mean hers were better? Sorry no pictures but you can imagine what your 3 year old would do if you gave her a paintbrush and a bowl of melted chocolate and a cup to decorate.

3. Halloween costumes
So we had a great time dressing up for the ward party - wearing black and orange is considered dressing up right? Oh well we dressed up the little cute ones anyway. Melia of course was a snow princess which I wasn't sure how long it would last since it really is a lot of fabric and I am hot every time she puts it on so we brought her dance outfit for her to play in when she got tired of her big dress so she enjoyed both. Naturally I forgot to take a picture of her in her second outfit of the night but i dont think she came down off her tippy toes from the time I put it on until the time I took it off =).

Kyan got to be a turtle (his costume was size 6-12 months) and the turtle definately suited him well during trick or treating. He is very slow when he is test tasting each candy through the package from each house. He also very helpfully pointed to his bucket in case people didn't know where to put the candy and closed people doors for them a couple times as well. "You give me candy then you close the door - not that difficult!" Stephanie's picture of Kyan and Tessa tells the whole story of their special friendship so refer to her facebook if you are in any doubt of him asking her on a date until she stops biting =).

Lets GO mom!!
4. Special Moves.
The other day when I turned on the music I just about died laughing when Kyan lays down on his stomach and starts kicking his feet up and melia lays down beside him and manages to get in sync with the kicking.
Another very proud mommy moment in the Cook house. Where could they possibly have gotten that move? I know I know it brings tears of pride doesnt it? Well at least they are learning something right?
