First basketball game!!

So I have been playing on a basketball in the community women's league for probably about 5 (maybe six) years now and have been really enjoying it. I have a really fun team with wonderful ladies and we have a lot of fun together. Now I don't mean to brag but I have a fantastic basketball skill! I FALL REALLY WELL!! I have rolled ankles and fallen many many times but due to my fabulous falling skills I haven't hurt myself more than having to walk off a rolled ankle for a couple minutes and back in the game. I have bragged about this fabulous skill of mine and now i can't anymore. It is a tragic day =( The first game of the season! Super exciting! Fun team to play against, great game, not dying while running - on fire!! Then I jump for a ball and when i notice someones foot is under mine as i come down I try to dodge their foot. Very sweet of me. Did not turn out well for me this time. Within minutes it looked like this:

A bit odd but i still had plans to wrap it well and play in our next game next tuesday. Then the next morning it looked like this:

Very pretty colours but so sore i had to crawl to the bathroom that morning much to the confusion of my poor kids. I used a broom as a crutch and got my kids to school just barely! Then the next morning it looks like this:

My friend recommended I get that checked out and sweetly lent me some crutches and taxied my rascal for me so i didn't have to try to fit that beauty in my boot - not possible in case you are curious =) Talia and I went to the hospital and Talia helped the x-ray tech (a friend of ours) check it out but no breaks! Just a bunch of torn ligaments! No basketball for me for a while. Hoping for January! Today the swelling is starting to go down - as in i can move my toes again - hooray! The doctor says Rest, Elevation, Crutches and Time.

Moral of the story? Don't brag about your fabulous falling skills or you will be gifted with some humility! Much love to all my wonderful friends who have been helping me out though! Bringing me supper, running my errands, taxing my rascals and so on! I am very blessed to know so many wonderful and generous people!!

Fall Family Photos

So since it is likely the last warm day of our fabulous fall we ran outside to take some pictures! Since we were a little slow on the fall pics the leaves are already down and cleaned up in a lot of our usual haunt so we wandered around a bit =)

Always like this one cause you cant tell if we all look goofy =)

Melia busted out some serious skills and took a cute picture of Vance and I.

My troublemakers =)

Funniest picture since they almost refused to being it. I have done a really good job of conveying to my children that being on the train tracks means you die. They were scandalized at the suggestion of taking a picture on the train tracks. They got off really fast afterwards =)

We went to a halloween party and managed to scare some small kids =)

Back to School!

This year my big girl goes into grade 2 in the big school!! She is loving it!!! Her teacher is super fabulous and reads tons every day so Melia is in Heaven!

Everyone was excited about her first day so they all wanted to be in the picture and do a 2 with their hands for grade two.

Then a week later my little man started kindergarten!! He wasn't sure how to express that with his fingers so he went with a zero look =) He is at his first day today and was soooo excited to get started!! He never even looked back!! I told his teacher that he really does have to pee that often and she just smiled at me cause like this is really news for a Kindergarten teacher who has been teaching it for 9 years =) When did he get so big???!!! I cant possibly be old enough to have two kids in school!! Well I guess I am turning 30 in a couple weeks... oh my!

My two big school kids!!

Mommy requested a happy smile please instead of a fake one!!

Talia is definitely feeling left out and informed me she is five and is ready for school but I told her she gets to do school with mommy for a couple years still. She even told one of the supervisors at Kyan's school that she was in kindergarten so the teacher was trying to help her find her class! You get distracted for one minute when one of the sweet little boys I coached in t-ball come to talk to me and my 3 year old is trying to sneak into kindergarten!

Lets throw in some random summer stuff! We made little stilts out of little thrive cans (very multi-purpose) and then we tried to walk in them. It was greatly entertaining!

Then one day we had a friend over and the kids were playing and Vance comes in and asks if we have any water balloons so we went a little crazy filling them up and Kyan and Talia were VERY excited to ambush Melia and her friend with their balloons!

Ready for me to send out the big girls!

Water balloons exhausted so out come the water bottles and the fight continues. We had to throw her friends clothes in the dryer before mommy came back =)

Having fun with Mermaid hair styles! The clips change color in the sun so she needed a picture to see what they looked like. One of the teenagers at church noticed and complimented her hair. Melia was walking on air!

Sometimes Vance and I are cute together even if he has his beach bum hair =)

And that is our story for the day!!

Highlights of our trip

On our way down we hit The Medieval Times by Anaheim and it was super cool!! The knights and horses were fabulous and the food fantastic. Despite arriving fashionably late due to TRAFFIC (happy to live in a small town - just saying) it was an awesome night and would definitely recommend it!

Legoland (which just so happens to be within walking distance from my sisters - well planned SB) was awesome and the actual size fighter thing (made entirely out of the little lego) was really neat as well as the many Star Wars scenes built out of Lego that were absolutely amazing. I love that things change there each time I go!

Very awesome spider! This was the point Kyan and I had the - no climbing over the fences discussion =)

Sharing gatorade with Darth Mahl (sp?). This was the end of my picture taking at legoland as I forgot the essential rule of taking pictures - don't get your camera wet! I was taking pics of someone on a ride spraying people and then they sprayed me. Fortunately my camera recovered by the next day for sea world!

Palm tree climbing. You can see the little knobs and harnesses but those rascals of mine just scampered right up there. Very impressive! They had to work hard for it as Im pretty sure Kyan was too small for it but they didn't realize he was definitely not 42 lbs and I thought he just had to be 42 inches so i sent him on in!

My mom painted up the rascals for sea world (mostly we do it to show off cause she is so much better than anywhere you can get face paint done - no bias) and the big girls wanted in on the fun so we got some flowers. We also enjoy it when we get asked everywhere we go where we got our face painting done. Then we get to brag that grandma did it!

Dolphin show was very cool and this time they had these guys in the show as well. TK wants one for her birthday...

We have a turtle thing in our family and my mom took this awesome picture!

Another highlight was getting to pet the manta rays. Technically these are Bat Ray just for the record but they were very friendly and we all got to touch them. We managed to not even have a kid fall in the pool in their enthusiasm. It was close once or twice though.

We only lost one kid in all of our adventures - Kyan of course - and he was found at the lost kid place soon enough so mommy didn't have a break down. he was playing in a photo booth and by the time we had got to the penguins he was gone and not with anyone I thought he was with. No great drama or injuries though which is a very welcome change for us!!

SB and WB put a lot of work into teaching those of us interested about surfing! It was really fun and here is our boldest kid SK who decided to try. Vance even managed to stand up and stay up. I managed to get to my knees which I was very proud about.

Our girls all dressed up and ready for church. MW curled their hair for them and SB let them wear some of her scarves. They were super excited!

Kyan and CK boogie boarding on the waves. I didn't think Kyan would rock it considering how small he is but he just walked into the waves and turned at the right moment and caught the wave every time!

Our lovely host and hostess!!

Kyan a bit excited about boogie boarding...

My sweet sister SB who let us crash at her house for two weeks (upping the number in her house from 2 to 11 and feeding 15 some days) just happens to have an awesome pool or two in her complex so my little rascals swam like fish at every possible moment. Kyan can fly! Talia and her cousin B.K. who are still learning to swim were in heaven as they could swim alone with their life jackets on in the little tubes TK brought, Heaven for everyone involved!!

Some body learned to love boogie boarding and even got good at doing it herself!

All of the rascals at the Zoo in san diego.

My little beach girl finally got her good summer tan and her hair her summer bleach blonde. So much so that upon returning to church after a two week travel absence she was asked to introduce herself in primary! Oops!

Our last temple on the way home was the Orem temple and it was amazing as well. It was very pretty and a very cool style! It was one of the older ones. We had fun taking pics on the stairs and stuff as well =)

We made it home safe! We put 6845 km on our van and have now driven from the top to the bottom of the USA and back. Fabulous adventure! See you guys at Christmas!! We can not guarantee the same weather here though...

Road to San Diego!!

So the drive to San Diego we did the long route and managed to check out some fabulous temples on the way. Instead of pictures of the kids watching movies or us driving I thought I would share some of the beauty we encountered! The amazing pictures are my moms and the rest are mine =)

There is a very good possibility of more posts about the trip to San Diego but if i never get around to it. You're welcome for the beautiful temples =)
